I had already presented my Z80 card for the Commodore C64 here. The PCB was not suitable to be installed in a standard cartridge case.
Therefore I reduced the size of the board a bit. Also all components are now SMD. This allows a complete automated assembly by service providers, such as PCBWay.
Technically nothing has changed on the cartridge. Only all components that were still intended for through-hole mounting have been replaced by SMD components.
This has saved an enormous amount of space. Then I provided a central hole, through which later the screw for the housing is led.
The firmware has only been adapted to the extent that the different layout has resulted in a new pin assignment for the Xilinx CPLD. Otherwise, no new features have been added.
Unfortunately, I have not received any feedback on whether the first version of this cartridge works in other computer models. There were quite a few people who wanted to test it, but there was no feedback until today.
Therefore I end the project at this point. The firmware runs stable on different models (see also the detailed report HERE). I therefore release the firmware as it is.
